Organisers of the Berwick GoldWing Light Parade, which is due to take place in the town on Saturday 6th September, met the Mayor of Berwick at the Berwick Lifeboat Station this Monday 19th May at 12.30pm.
Event organiser Ron Lawson brought a Honda GoldWing along for the photo-shoot with the Mayor who will be travelling on one of the leading trikes in the September evening light parade.
The event will bring some of UK’s best GoldWings and trikes to Berwick and these will be on display at Quay Walls from 10.00am until about 4.00pm. The display will be a perfect visitor attraction with tombola stalls, raffle, music and fun. It is also planned for the lifeboat to be moored alongside to add a little extra to the show. Later that night the Mayor will join the group by riding on the leading trike as the spectacular dazzling light parade of illuminated GoldWings leaves Castlegate Car Park for a tour of the town ... and it’s all in aid of the RNLI Berwick Lifeboat.
Organisers are optimistic their event will bring several hundred riders and their families to stay in Berwick for their weekend show. They have been promoting the event at several leading bike shows around the UK which has generated some positive publicity.
The meeting today gave the Mayor an introduction to GoldWing riding and enabled her to chat with organisers and lifeboat personnel about their big event.
