Berwick-upon-Tweed Town Council has commissioned a short film to promote the town to visitors. With stunning scenery, beautiful architecture, and a vast array of activities on show, the film acts as a preview for potential holiday-makers.
Lighthouse Film company produced the film combining breath-taking views of the town with narrative describing the town's attractions, including; The Elizabethan Walls, bridges, beaches, golf course, water-sports, wildlife, Cromwellian church, Maltings Theatre and Cinema and Lowry Trail.
With Berwick's strong public transport links and East Coast mainline railway station, the film promotes Berwick as an easy-to-reach destination, as well as an attractive base for walking and cycling opportunities. Berwick is on the long distance routes of; Berwickshire coastal path, Northumberland coast path, Sustrans Coast and Castles Route 1 and the Sandstone Way mountain bike route, as well as being the nearest rail station for starting walks on St Cuthbert's Way, St Oswald's Way and other local cycling challenges.
The film also launches the new twitter campaign hashtag #LoveBerwick where visitors will be encouraged to share their experiences and find out more through the official visitor website - www.visitberwick.com.
The Maltings Theatre & Cinema is the premier performing and media arts venue for North Northumberland and the Scottish Borders.
L S Lowry (1887 - 1976) visited the town of Berwick many times from the mid-1930's until the summer before he died. The Berwick Lowry Trail identifies the sites of many of his finest paintings and drawings of the town.
