Tweedmouth Feast is a traditional event, with origins in the 12th Century, which celebrates salmon fishing on the River Tweed.
The events begin on Thursday 18th July with The Mouth of the Tweed Festival and The Crowning of the Salmon Queen. The Mouth of the Tweed Festival takes place at Dewar's Lane Granary and on the Quayside in Berwick. The festival opens at 11am with activities, displays and stalls from local producers, all celebrating local food. The festival finishes at 4pm, in time for you to take part in the next event of the festival; The Crowning of the Salmon Queen.
You can join the procession, to cheer on the incoming Salmon Queen, at Berwick Town Hall. The procession then travels across the Old Bridge to West End. Here the crown is passed from the outgoing Salmon Queen to the new Salmon Queen in the crowning ceremony at 7pm. With street entertainment, live music and food stalls in West End, this family event has plenty to be enjoyed and the event closes at 9pm.
The Feast concludes on Sunday 21st July with the Tweedmouth Feast Float Parade. A parade of around 20 floats leaves from Chapel street in Berwick at 2pm and creates quite a spectacle as the convoy wynds its way through the streets of Berwick and over the Old Bridge to West End.
