Tweed Cottage is one of a number of self catering holiday properties that are designed for one or two people. Set in the heart of the lovely conservation village of Paxton and only minutes walk from Paxton House and the river Tweed, this cottage has a super location. The beautiful coastlines of Northumberland and Berwickshire are only a short drive away and the delights of Edinburgh or Newcastle can be reached by frequent train services.
The cosy cottage was formally an estate workers home and is to be found down a quiet lane, Back Lane near the old village pump. The cottage has been fully modernised with central heating and double glazing so is suitable for a short or long break year round. The kitchen area has all modern appliances including dishwasher, washing machine and full oven which are set under a marble worktop. The lounge area has two comfortable armchairs in order to watch the flat screen wall mounted tv and free view, and blu-ray dvd. DVDS, maps and leaflets are provided. The dining table is set ready for an intimate dinner for two.
All guests receive a Welcome Basket containing a selection of Border specialities including honey from the Chain Bridge Honey farm nearby, chocolates made by Kiki Chocolates of Eyemouth and homemade jam, often using local fruit. The kitchen is supplied with starter supplies of tea, ground coffee, sugar, free range eggs and milk together with detergents and cleaning items. Upstairs there is a double bedroom with another flat screen TV and radio. Guests have the option of a duvet or sheets and blankets and all linen is provided. The shower room has a modern vanity unit with illuminated mirror, walk-in shower (small step) with a rain head and traditional shower. All towels are provided together with organic soap specially made for us by Purity soaps of Berwick.
There is a small garden located about 25 yards down the lane next to the parking space for one car. The village has a very welcoming pub, The Cross which serves real ale and food on most days.
Berwick is a fascinating town with many Georgian houses, the medieval walls and a thriving theatre and cinema. The area has an abundance stately homes and gardens to visit including Gunsgreen House, Eyemouth, Paxton House nearby, Manderston House, Duns and Bamburgh Castle. Most guests will want to visit the Holy Island of Lindisfarne and Alnwick Gardens too. There is so much to see guests often return again and again and receive a special discount.
