Berwick has a full calendar of events throughout the year. We kick off the summer season with the Riding of the Bounds, followed by family fun at the Seaside Festival, a food heritage feast at Berwick Food and Beer Festival and Berwick Film and Media Arts Festival - the largest film festival in North East and Scottish Borders.

Once the summer ends we still have a full programme of events at the Maltings Arts Centre and Theatre (all year round) and look forward to Christmas in Berwick, with the Christmas lights switch on, Spittal Christmas Fair and Berwick Rotary Christmas Market.

For art lovers, we have exhibitions taking place in the GymnasiumGranary and Dockside galleries.

For those of you who enjoy a good sporting event, we have Berwick Classic Car Rally, the Curfew run and Shielfield Park Stadium home to both Berwick Rangers Football Club and the Berwick Bandits Speedway.

If you’re planning to visit Northumberland during the school holidays or on bank holidays, many of the English Heritage and National Trust managed properties host everything from themed fairs to historical re-enactments, and our castles and attractions all have their own event programmes to keep everyone entertained.

Berwick's iconic Royal Border Bridge is illuminated each evening from dusk, with a changing programme of lights.

To mark occasions, raise awareness of causes and to commemorate special dates; the illuminations are set to a significant colour. This creates a special spectacle and a unique opportunity for photography.

PLEASE NOTE: Due to technical issues, the over-water lights are currently off. Engineers are working on fixing them and updates will be made to this page when they are back on. Apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.
