The 2022 Big Draw Festival
26th November 2022 | 2pm – 4pm | Berwick Library, Walkergate
Join us for this year’s Big Draw Festival at Berwick Library!
We are working in partnership with Northumberland Libraries to offer felt-making workshops for young people aged 8-16 years old.
Inspired by the Lindisfarne Gospels Illuminated Sheep project and The Big Draw theme, Come back to Colour, we will be selecting from a palette of multi-coloured wool fibres to create felt pictures of ‘Northumberland’.
Artist Anna Turnbull will lead you through the process, exploring creative approaches to drawing using wool. The applying the magical process of felt-making to transform your image into a piece of fabric.
Anna Turnbull graduated with a BA (Hons) in Fine Art at Camberwell School of Arts and Crafts in London in 1988. She returned to Northumberland to work as a photographic artist and silversmith, before training to teach as well as continuing her own artistic journey. She started experimenting the different techniques of felt making in 2005. She fell in love with is versatility, being able to paint with a varied palette of dyed wools, create something delicate and ephemeral using fine wools and silks, or use more sculptural techniques to from vessels.
