The Summer Reading Challenge is aimed at children aged 4-11 years old, encouraging a love of reading which continues through the holidays – not just during school terms! Children are asked to read a minimum of 6 books over 3 visits to the library during the 6 week holiday. On each visit, children receive stickers to complete their Marvellous Makers summer mystery. They can also rate the books they have read and join in more fun activities online: Summer Reading Challenge
At the end of the challenge children collect a medal and certificate and there is a prize to be won for the most books read!
For younger children, there is the mini challenge where little ones can also collect stickers, complete a maze and draw a character.
Remember we are open throughout the holidays (Mon-Fri 9am-5pm and Sat 10am-5pm), joining the library is free and we currently do not charge any late return fees (so if you have old books to return – now is the best time to do it!) we also have children’s toys to play with and Lego boxes for the bigger kids.
