Making the beach available to everyone. Everyone should have the chance to be on the sand.
The beach at Spittal is now fully accessible to everyone. A new facility within the Splashpark has opened allowing wheelchair users the opportunity to book a wheelchair that is suitable for the beach.
There are 3 chairs available for hire, 1 children’s, 1 for teenagers and adults and 1 suitable for all adults.
To book a chair, you register with the Beach Access North East Website , if you are already a member then please dial 0300 999 4444 to book an appointment, please give at least 24 hours notice. The project is fully manned by volunteers.
Berwick Community Trust Host the project and are working with Beach Access north East to provide this fantastic service to residents and visitors to Berwick upon Tweed.
You can also visit the Community Changing Place located at Northern View, Highcliffe, Spittal, Berwick-upon-Tweed, TD15 2JL. A fabulous community facility recently opened to provide showering and changing facilities for those with mobility issues.
