Small-town gym manager Lou falls hard for Jackie, who’s on her way to Las Vegas to compete in a bodybuilding competition. But, life and love never being simple, they have to deal with Lou’s dodgy, gun-loving criminal dad.

Set in the 80’s, with a throbbing score and scorched neonish colours throughout, it may be a love story, but it’s also a tale of obsession, small-town claustrophobia, female empowerment, revenge and… beetles.
