HODS 24 Berwick Town Hall: Faces of the Photo Centre and Berwick in the 1970s

Visit an historic building in the heart of Berwick and enjoy photos from the Berwick Archives . The Photo Centre contains millions of images of Berwick and the surrounding area
covering many subjects and styles. The one thing many of them have in common is that they document the lives of generations of townspeople over a 60 year period.
This exhibition focuses on the period 1950s to the 1980s. Help us put the names to the faces.
Take a step back to Berwick, Tweedmouth and Spittal in the 1970s through slides taken by the Borough Planning Department in our film show. They document what Berwick looked like from 1973 to 1975 and some of the changes afoot at the time—work by the Preservation Trust on the Quay Walls and the Corporation on its housing stock. Although taken for a mundane purpose, the slides offer a unique insight into details of the town many people will have forgotten even existed!
