Movie Night at the Barrels, Bridge St, Berwick.

Our next film, on Sunday Feb.2nd, at 7pm, will be ‘Marianne & Leonard: Words of Love’, from 2019. It’s a documentary which covers the relationship between singer/songwriter Leonard Cohen and Marianne Ihlen, a Norwegian woman who became his muse when they lived together on the Greek Island of Hydra in the 60’s. It’s directed by Nick Broomfield, who was himself, briefly, in a relationship with Marianne.

A beautiful film with concert footage, ‘talking heads’ interviews with friends and colleagues, home video footage of Marianne and ‘behind-the-scenes’ film of Leonard.

With it’s musical subject, it’s showing as part of the Barrels’ involvement in Independent Venue Week (IVW), a nationwide project to promote gigs and events in small venues.
