Join us this December for high jinks on the high seas at The Maltings Pantomime!

The festive countdown has begun at The Maltings, as we prepare to welcome the cast and creative team into the building to begin the preparations for this year’s pantomime, The Adventures of Sinbad and tickets are on sale now!

The Adventures of Sinbad is written and directed by The Malting’s very own Wendy Payn and produced by the same team who brought you Ali Baba and the Four Tea Thieves and last year’s best-selling Cinderella!

We can’t wait to welcome our audiences into The Maltings to join us this festive season for a tale of high jinks on the High Seas!

Packed with magical moments and swash-buckling comedy, The Adventures of Sinbad is suitable for everyone, making it a perfect treat for all the family!

This year’s festive extravaganza also sees the return of some very familiar faces including Emma Boyd as Jane McDonut, Chloe Millar, who played Cinderella last year, as Ruby, John Stenhouse as Cyril Prawn, newcomer Ben Fairley as Sinbad and The Maltings very own Ross Graham as Captain Cornelius Crabclaw, Wendy Payn as Maloko and Charlotte Summers as Princess Shelly Periwinkle.

And, as always, our production team will be working hard behind the scenes to make this year’s panto glisten and glow, bringing laughter and joy and making memories for everyone to cherish.

The Adventures of Sinbad will be performed at The Maltings, Berwick-Upon-Tweed from 7 – 31 December 2024 with a choice of matinee and evening performances and performances especially for schools. The performance of The Adventures of Sinbad on Sunday 15 December at 12 noon will also provide a British Sign Language interpretation and audio description.

Accessible performance – Sunday 15 December at 12 noon

The performance of The Adventures of Sinbad on Sunday 15 December at 12 noon will provide a British Sign Language interpretation and audio description.

Audio description – delivered by Christopher McKiddie

During this performance, Christopher will use the natural pauses in the action to deliver a live narration to the listener’s personal headset. BSL interpretation – delivered by Christy Dodds

The BSL interpreted element of this performance of The Adventures of Sinbad involves Christy joining the actors on stage, which means that you don’t need to choose between following the action or the language. We would recommend that anyone wishing to take full advantage of the BSL interpretation should book tickets in rows C to H, ideally in seats 1 – 12 if available.

Maltings (Berwick) Trust is a registered charity and the major professional hub for culture and creativity across North Northumberland and the eastern Scottish Borders.      
Currently working across four venues (The Maltings, The Granary Gallery, Maltings Cinema at Berwick Barracks and The Gymnasium Gallery) and off-site in the community, we work with partners to curate and present a wide-ranging programme of live performances (theatre, opera, music, dance, comedy), youth theatre, a schools’ programme, creative learning, festivals, visual art exhibitions, artist residencies, commissions, talks, community productions, films and event broadcasts.   
We’re a lead partner in The Living Barracks project – an ambitious multi-partner project to restore and redevelop Berwick Barracks. Specifically, we manage the project’s Cultural Development Fund engagement programme, Berwick Shines – a series of dynamic artist-led residencies, commissions and education projects.
We are an Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation (NPO), and are revenue funded by Northumberland County Council.
