The Scarycrow Trail

The famous SCARYCROW TRAIL has been running for over 10 years and causes great excitement amongst visitors and locals.

Follow the trail of weird and wonderful ‘Scarycrows’ around the villages, awarding them scores as you go. Pick up a score sheet from one of the village shops, the railway or the Visitor Centre. Hand in the sheet at any of the same when you have finished the trail. We’ll add the totals together at the end of the week to determine the winning Scarycrow 2021! The decision is yours.

There were over 20 entries last year, so there is a lot to see, the Fiendish Hound took the top prize in 2020.

There is no charge for this event but, if you can, please give a donation for the score sheet, as all proceeds will be given to Radio Borders Cash 4 Kids to help disadvantaged children in North Northumberland and the Scottish Borders.

Chunks of the Scarycrow Trail can be walked, but to see everything you will need to drive to some of the our of the way locations. There is no set route to follow. Dogs are welcome at Ford & Etal Estates, so feel free to bring them along too.

The Scarycrows are created by locals and local businesses and we are very grateful for their support and enthusiasm. Without their creativity and hard work there would be no event.
